LITERATURE AWARDS
There were eight literature awards to BNAPS members in 2004. A Vermeil and Silver were awarded at FIP shows. Three Golds, two Vermeils and a Silver-Bronze were awarded at U.S. National shows.
2004 AWARD SUMMARY
71 different BNAPS members won a total of 134 exhibit and literature awards in 2004 at major stamp exhibitions in the U.S., Canada and overseas. This compares to 80 members and 135 awards in 2003. The most significant difference was at BNAPEX. We had only 21 exhibits this year but 38 in 2003, primarily because of this year's U.S. venue. Exhibits at major U.S. and Canadian shows increased from 83 to 96, on the other hand.
Single frame exhibiting (now called "OFEs" for "one frame exhibits") continues to grow - 38 this year compared to 27 in 2003. 30% of all exhibits are now OFEs.
Doubtless there are many other members who exhibited at the local or regional levels. In all instances, sharing our philatelic material (exhibits or literature) with the public at stamp shows is a significant outreach. It helps generate interest in BNA philately, and recruits new members. Exhibiting and philatelic writing and research takes a lot of time. All BNAPS members who share their interest in BNA philately with the public are owed our congratulations and thanks.
