Squared Circle Postmarks of Canada
December 2023 update to the 6th edition

The Squared Circle postmarks of Canada were used by over 300 post offices from 1893 to ~1900, and later in some cases. These postmarks seem to have everything to please the postal historian and postmark collector – wide geographical distribution, a spread over several popular stamp issues, varying periods of use, coloured cancels, and hammers of varying rarity.

The 6th edition of the Handbook was published in 2020. It builds upon the 5th edition, published in 2001. The Handbook is organized according to hammer type and province as indicated in the Table of Contents below, and can be accessed as a series of PDF files. The files vary in size up to maximum of 11.4 MB.

The December 2023 update to the 6th edition replaces all the sections of the previous update in October 2022.
