This page includes a number of pieces from $1 Totem production file on two rejected essays. 5 different large + 2 “DEFACED” die essays with XG-969 above and CBNC imprint below. Defaced marked “1st Die” and “2nd Die” at upper right. Tin plate proof, and photos.
To begin with, here is the issued stamp.
This image is an essay from the first production die.
The next three images are also from the first production die.
The following image is an enlarged scan from the Die 1 Essay. You can easily see the differences between Die 1 and Die 2, (enlarged scan of Die 2 further down the page), most notably in the dollar sign ($), text, trees in the background, and white “H” near the lower right part of the stamp’s design.
This next image is of the defaced first die.
