In 2005, the BNAPS Board of Directors established a Youth Activities program to encourage children and young adults (up to 18 years of age) to take up the hobby of philately. BNAPS created the office of Youth Coordinator to manage the program.
The Youth Coordinator was responsible for inviting schools and youth organizations to submit proposals for philatelic projects, evaluating the proposals, and providing grants, free stamps, and philatelic supplies to the proposals judged the most worthwhile.
The program was cut back in 2012-2013 as a result of budgetary constraints and the increasing cost of mailing bulk stamps and supplies.
BNAPS is interested in partnering with accredited philatelic or educational organizations in out-reach programs for young collectors or contests that support youth philately.
