BNAPS Publicity Officer
  • Responsible for advertising BNAPS membership services in philatelic publications
  • Submits news releases about BNAPS activities to philatelic and general interest publications
  • Creates promotional literature/brochures
  • Submits reports on BNAPEX convention programs, palmares, and non-exhibit awards to philatelic publications

In years past, the Publicity Officer also produced reports on exhibit and other awards won by members. This function is now carried out by the Member Recognition Coordinator.

The Publicity Officer was previously called the Publicity Director, Publicity Chairman, and Information Officer. In 1953, there was a Publicity Committee. Between 1970 and 1978, there were Publicity Directors for Canada and the U.S.

  3. In 1993, the Publicity Director position was revived, and called "Information Officer".
  4. Between 1978 and 1992, there was apparently no Publicity Director.
  5. In 1972, the Canadian and U.S. positions were called "Publicity Chairmen".
  6. In 1970, the Publicity Director position was split in three:
    a) Publicity Director - Arthur W. McIntyre
    b) Publicity Director (Canada) - C. Russell McNeil
    c) Publicity Director (U.S.) - Alfred H. Kessler
    The three positions were first listed in the Nov. 1970 issue of BNA Topics (Vol. 27, No. 10, p. 287). When Arthur W. McIntyre died on 6 March 1971, the Publicity Director positions were reduced to two.
  7. Page 262 of the Sept. 1953 issue of BNA Topics (Vol. 10, No. 8), listed a Publicity Committee whose members were Alfred H. Kessler (Chairman), Rev. John S. Bain, Richard P. Hedley, Mervyn V. Quarles, and Robert J. Woolley.

  9. The position was initially called the "Publicity Director".
